Rev. Leo D. “Buddy” Lanier, age 81, of Macclenny, Florida died Wednesday, April 27, in the Lake City Medical Center, Lake City, Florida following a sudden illness. Rev. Lanier was born in Trenton, Florida and resided in Cross City and Whitehouse, Florida before moving to Macclenny, Florida in 1978. He worked as shop foreman with North Florida Steel Erectors, Jacksonville, Florida for over 50 years. He also served as an ordained minister in north Florida for over 47 years. He was a member of the Sanderson Congregational Holiness Church, a Marine Corps veteran and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel James and Florence E. Mathis Lanier. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Wanda Lanier of Macclenny, Florida; four children, Charlee (Tammy) Lanier of Panama City, Florida, Lori (Troy) Durden of Lake City, Florida, Michael Thompson and Cissy (Adam) Hickman both of Macclenny, Florida; three loving children, Matthew Herb, Jesse J. Williams and Dawn Thompson; five siblings, Betty Owen of Newberry, Florida, Jimmy (Marlene) Lanier of Hawthorne, Florida, Connie Barlow and Johnny (Yvonne) Lanier both of Cross City, Florida and Judy (J.O.) Langford of Trenton, Florida; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive. A funeral service to honor the life of Rev. Lanier will be held at 2 P.M. Monday, May 2, in the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home with Rev. Oral Lyons, Pastor of Sanderson Congregational Holiness Church, officiating. Interment will be in Macedonia Cemetery, Baker County, Florida. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 12 to 2 P.M Monday (Two hours before services) at GUERRY FUNERAL HOME, U.S. 90 East, Macclenny, Florida.
