Mr. Dallas Leroy Sherrill, age 89, of Lake City, Florida passed away peacefully Thursday, May 4, in the Suwannee Valley Care Center, Lake City, Florida. Rev. Sherrill was born in Hogan, Missouri and resided in Kentucky, Hilliard, Florida and the panhandle of Florida before moving to Lake City, Florida in 1978. He was an ordained Baptist minister for almost 50 years serving many Baptist churches. He was a member of the Southside Baptist Church, Lake City, Florida, a former chaplain with the Lake Shore Hospital and the Lake City Medical Center and an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed doing carpenter work and fishing. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Florence Marie Sherrill, his parents, Elzie and Clara O. Swaringim Sherrill. He is survived by six children, Rhonda Lynn Sherrill of Lake City, Florida, Rose Verlander of Abingdon, Virginia, Kathy Sherrill of Dowling Park, Florida, Bobi (Bill) Vickery of Black Mountain, North Carolina, Mary Jane (John) Fish of Perry, Florida and Joe (Colette) Sherrill of Canton, Georgia; one brother, Bill (Carol) Sherrill of Farmington, Missouri; Twelve grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren also survive. A funeral service to honor the life of Rev. Sherrill will be held at 11 A.M. Tuesday, May 9, in the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home with Rev. Hugh Sherrill, Pastor of Philippi Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Union Baptist Church Cemetery, north of Branford, Florida. Visitation and gathering with the family will from 6 to 8 P.M. Monday, May 8, at GUERRY FUNERAL HOME, 2659 S.W. Main Blvd., Lake City, Florida.
