Mrs. Lois Burnsed Canaday, age 89, of Moniac, Georgia passed away on Saturday, July 8, in the St. Vincent’s Riverside Hospice, Jacksonville, Florida following an extended illness. Mrs. Canaday was born in Lake City, Florida and resided in the Baxter community of Baker County for many years until moving to Moniac, Georgia in 1977. She worked as a rural mail carrier with U.S. Post Office, Macclenny, Florida for many years until her retirement. She was a member of the Moniac Baptist Church and enjoyed traveling, sewing, fishing, reading, crafts, embroidery and making her many jellies that always won her blue ribbons at the county fairs. Her children referred to her as the “Queen of the Loop” in Moniac, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Canaday, Jr., her parents, James L. and Dollie Mae Pearce Burnsed and a son, Timothy Dean Canaday. She is survived by three daughters, Vickie J. (Ronald) Cabler of Jacksonville, Florida, Sandra E. (Avery) Crawford of Moniac, Georgia and Lisa (Dwight) Allbright of Macclenny, Florida; two sons, Philip Brian (Susan) Canaday and Jody L. (Rachel) Canaday both of Moniac, Georgia; her daughter-in-law, Sandra Kay Canaday of Moniac, Georgia; one brother, Robert (Sue) Burnsed of Macclenny, Florida; nine grandchildren, Amy, Jeannie, Brian, Joshua, Allen, Elizabeth, Tiger, Bear and Elainna; Seven great-grandchildren also survive. A funeral service to honor the life of Mrs. Canaday will be held at 11 A.M. Wednesday, July 12, in the Moniac Baptist Church with Rev. Gene Burnsed, Rev. Fred Raulerson and Rev. Matt Rouse officiating. Interment will be in Canaday Cemetery, Moniac, Georgia Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 10 to 11 A. M. Wednesday (One hour before services) at the church.
