Mrs. Margaret Annette Kirkland, age 82, of Macclenny, Florida passed away on Thursday, Oct. 5, In the Ascension St. Vincent’s Riverside Hospital, Jacksonville, Florida following an extended illness. Mrs. Kirkland was born in Zephyrhills, Florida and resided in Macclenny, Florida for the past 70 years. She worked as a UTR Specialist with Northeast Florida State Hospital in Macclenny, Florida for over 31 years until her retirement. She attended Mt. Zion N.C. Holiness Church, Macclenny, Florida. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and was a great caretaker to her entire family. Her hobbies were reading and spending time with her family, whom she dearly loved.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Brantley L. and Mary Jones Humphreys and sisters, Vera Mae Crews and Nadine Dopson. She is survived by her loving husband, who she married on her birthday, Feb. 21, 1958, Windell S. Kirkland of Macclenny, Florida; four children, John (Elaine) Kirkland, Tim (Cindy) Kirkland, Lynne (Mike) Sanville and Scott (Miranda) Kirkland all of Macclenny, Florida; three sisters, Virginia Thrift and Sylvia Perdue both of Macclenny, Florida and Robin Mann of Sanderson, Florida; twelve grandchildren, Debra Kirkland, Kishia Browning, Brandy Southard, Heather Crawford, Erin Kirkland, Taylor Chancey, Garrett Sanville, Ethan Sanville, Daniel Sanville, Rilynne Kirkland, Kindell Kirkland and Waylon Kirkland; seven great-grandchildren, Owyn Matthews, Tate Griffis, Caynan Southard, Eden Southard, Tucker Crawford, Tori Crawford and Timothy Crawford; one great-great-granddaughter, Addilynn Matthews also survives.
A funeral service to honor the life of Mrs. Kirkland will be held at 11 A.M. Wednesday, Oct. 11, in the Mt. Zion N.C. Holiness Church, State Road 121 North, Macclenny, Florida with Rev. Chris Mann officiating. Interment will be in Macedonia Cemetery, Baker County, Florida. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 10 to 11 A.M. (One hour before services) at the church.
