Mark Allen Polson, 70, of Lake City, FL, passed away on Tuesday, November 26, 2019, at the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center in Gainesville, FL, following a brief illness.
He was born March 20, 1949, in Omaha, Nebraska to the late John H. Polson and Elaine Russell Polson. After graduating from Bloomington Kennedy High School, Mr. Polson joined the United States Army where he served his country during the Vietnam War. He loved sports (football, baseball, and cross country), comedy, music, and history; but most of all, he loved being a husband, father, and grandfather. Mr. Polson lived in Lake City, FL for the past 23 years. He is preceded in death by his father and grandson, Anthony Steele.
Survivors include his loving wife of 37 years, Rita R. Polson, of Lake City, FL; mother Elaine Polson of Bloomington, MN; son Jack (Sonda) Polson of Farmington, MN; daughter Robin (Robert) Ferguson of Bloomington, MN; stepdaughters Laurie (Scot) Schindler of Shakopee, MN and Danielle Buxbaum of Montgomery, MN; brothers David (Doris) Polson, John (Darcee) Polson, Steven (Becky) Polson, Christopher (Sue) Polson, Richard (Laura) Polson, and Joseph Polson; grandchildren Kaylin, Rita, Aaron, Cole, Bobby, Riley, Ashtin, Jayla, Madelyn, and Skylar; and a host of extended family and friends.
Services to honor the life of Mr. Polson will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, December 4, 2019, in the chapel of Gill Brothers Funeral Service (9947 Lyndale Ave South, Bloomington, MN, 55420). Interment will follow in Fort Snelling National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00PM-8:00PM on Tuesday, December 3, 2019, at the funeral home.
