Mrs. Martha Poarch was born in Mobile, Mobile Co. Alabama on October 27, 1931.

Martha married Everette Lee Poarch, Jr. on March 21, 1953 in Birmingham, Jefferson Co. Alabama. Martha was born to her father, Wilbur S “Bill" Hart, mothers: Martha Quillin Hart and Nan Wigington Hart, and special aunt Myra Hart Henderson who helped her Dad take care of her and her brother for seven years. She graduated from Phillips High in Birmingham, Alabama in 1950 and later majored in Chemistry, and minored in Biology at the University of Alabama. She later graduated from Saint Vincent's Hospital Medical Technology Program in Birmingham, Alabama. She registered as Medical Technologist by America Society of Clinical Pathologists in 1952. She worked at Saint Vincent's Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama until 1957; worked at Veterans Hospital in Lake City Florida from 1972 until retirement in 1992 from Laboratory Service, Microbiology Department, as Microbiology Supervisor, Laboratory Computer Coordinator, and a member of the Hospital Infection Control team. Martha joined First Baptist Church in Lake City Florida in 1965, first volunteering as Sunday School Teacher and was a Sunbeams (Mission Friends) leader, working in Vacation Bible School with 4 and 5 year olds. She was a member of the JOY Sunday School Class and then a member of the Charity Class Sunday School. She said, "Knowing that I had class members and Prayer Warriors praying for me helped me accomplish more than I thought I could." She also volunteered in the Nursery during the Church Service. Babies and Preschool children have always had a special place in her heart. Martha also worked on the History of First Baptist Church Lake City. She was addicted to Family History and photographing tombstones in family cemeteries. She was always a light in the dark and an incredibly special person to so many.

Mrs. Poarch is survived by her husband Everette Poarch, Jr: 2 sons, Michael (Carol) Poarch and Paul (Kathy) Poarch: 5 grandchildren, Curtis (Stephanie) Poarch, Zachary (Heather) Poarch, Ginny (Sam Mencher) Poarch, Samantha (Brandon Witmer) Poarch and Chris (Stacey) McDonald: 6 great-grandchildren, Cruise (Lauren) McDonald, Maverick McDonald, Buddy Lee Poarch, Terra Poarch, Abby Poarch, Nate Poarch and step great grandchildren Kaitlyn and Lana Olsen: and 1 great-great granddaughter, Twyla McDonald.

Mrs. Poarch is preceded in death by her father, W. S. “Bill” Hart: mother, Martha Q Hart and mother Nan W Hart: special aunt, Myra Hart Henderson: brother, C Ed (Irma) Hart: special cousin, Curtis (Betty) Hart and grandson, Alexander Lee Poarch.

Mrs. Poarch will be buried in Wellborn Cemetery, Wellborn, Florida. The family will receive friends for food and fellowship at 3:00 P.M. Friday, February 9 at the First Baptist Church, Lake City, Florida. Guerry Funeral Home, Lake City, Florida is in charge of arrangements.
