Mrs. Mickie Marie Canaday, age 78, of St. George, Georgia died Wednesday, Dec. 29, at Ed Fraser Memorial Hospital, Macclenny, Florida. Mrs. Canaday was born and raised in Macclenny, Florida and moved to Moniac, Georgia in 1973 where she lived the rest of her life. She worked for Northeast Florida State Hospital as a nurse assistant. Mrs. Canaday was a lifelong member of Moniac Baptist Church. She loved to crochet, go fishing, play poker, and read all kinds of books, with mystery books being her favorite. Mrs. Canaday is preceded in death by her loving husband of 44 years, Willard Canaday, her parents Wesley and CoraBell Dowling Prevatt, and one Grandson. She is survived by her four sons, Willard “PeeWee” (Darlene) Canaday of Macclenny, Florida, Wesley “Ronnie” (Brenda) Canaday of St. George, Georgia, John “Red” (Melissa) Canaday of St. George, Georgia, and Jason “Jake” (Kimberly) Canaday of Folkston, Georgia. One brother, Bill (Helen) Prevatt of Kansas, One sister, Phyllis (Gary) Ploucher of Macclenny, Florida, 13 Grandchildren and 19 Great-grandchildren also survive. A funeral service to honor the life of Mrs. Canaday will be held at 12:00 P.M. Monday, Jan. 3, at Moniac Baptist Church, St. George, Georgia with Rev. Gene Burnsed officiating, and Rev. Matt Rouse assisting. Interment will be in Canaday Cemetery, St. George, Georgia following the funeral service. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M.
