Mr. Paul Timothy Thrift “Timmy”, age 68, of Macclenny, FL was called home to be with the Lord on November 14, 2019. Timmy was a lifetime resident of Baker County, FL born on July 06, 1951, to the late Paul and Willa Mae Thrift. He was a beloved teacher at Baker County High School. He unselfishly served as an amazing educator for 34 years who positively impacted the lives of thousands of students. He was selected in 1987-1988 and 1994-1995 by his peers as the Baker County High School Teacher of the Year. He went on to receive the Baker County School District Ruth I. Shuler Teacher of the Year Award that exemplifies teaching excellence. After years of influencing and enlightening students, Timmy enjoyed his hobbies of hunting, gardening, farming, playing the piano, and spending time with his family and friends. He was a sincere, sweet, Christian man who put others before himself. He always had encouraging words for all he came in contact with. Timmy was dearly loved and admired by his family and friends. He will be greatly missed but his love, positive influence and sweet memories will live in the hearts of all that knew him. Timmy is survived by his sister Paula T. Barton “Cissi”; niece Nanette (Chuck) Spitzer; great nieces Tana, Teanna, Tinsleigh, Taragan, Timberlei Barton; brother Joey (Bebe) Thrift; nephew Jody Paul (Sabrina) Thrift, great nephew and niece Tucker and Tara Thrift; nephew Jim (Miranda) Thrift and niece Christi Thrift. A celebration of Timmy’s life will be held Sunday, November 17, 2019, at 3:00 pm at Taylor Church, with Pastor Mark Woods officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, November 17, 2019 from 1:30 pm – 3:00 pm. The arrangements are under the care of Guerry Funeral Home, 420 E Macclenny, FL, 32063, (904)259-2211. Donations to the Baker County Education Foundation which funds student and teacher scholarships will gladly be received in lieu of flowers.
