Mr. Preston Cannady, age 78, of Macclenny, Florida passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on May 25th. He was born in Marianna, Florida to George W. Cannady and Sally Chambliss Cannady. He relocated to Macclenny and settled with his wife, Betty, for the past 60 years. Mr. Cannady was Baptist by faith and was a member of Raiford Road Church. He worked over 35 years in the printing industry and was a lithographer. He spent many of those years supervising at Miller Press and teaching at the Jacksonville University Trade School. He also became a Master Mason and served in the Shriners International Organization. Mr. Cannady was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and special uncle to numerous nieces and nephews. He loved RV camping, especially at the Spirit of the Suwannee Campground in Live Oak, Florida. He also loved fishing, cooking, and watching old westerns. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Mr. Cannady is preceded in death by his parents and the love of his life, Betty Griffis Cannady. Also, his siblings, Virgil Cannady, Douglas Cannady, Ada Shoemaker and Mary Ethel Coulliette. He is survived by his two daughters, Michelle (David) Crews of Glen St. Mary, Florida and Cherelle (Mark) Weeks of DeFuniak Springs, Florida; five grandchildren, Tara and Matthew Crews, Abigail, Allison, and Audrey Weeks; sister, Merita Georgeanna Canady of Tallahassee, Florida; two brothers, Sidney Cannady of Colorado Springs, Colorado and George Cannady Jr. of Greenwood, Florida. They will forever carry his precious memories in their hearts.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mr. Cannady will be held on Tuesday, May 30, at 11 A.M. at Raiford Road Church with Pastor Eddie Griffis officiating. Visitation and gathering with the family will be one hour prior from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. A private interment service will be held at Sapp Cemetery, Raiford, Florida at a later date.
