Mr. Richard Paul Clark, age 72, died at his home on June 8, 2022 after a quick decline from end stage COPD. He was a practical joker at heart and even as he battled the disease, he never lost his wit or his need to keep pulling pranks. Rick was in public service his entire adult life. After graduating from Baker County High School in 1967 he joined the US Army as a medic and was deployed overseas. He returned to Macclenny 4 years later and met and married his wife of 50 years, Diane. He became a paramedic in 1971, one of the first 300 in the State of Florida. He worked at Ed Fraser Memorial Hospital and became one of the first paramedics to join the newly created Baker County EMS. Over the next nearly forty years, Rick and Baker County EMS grew with each other and he eventually became director of an expanded Emergency Services managing rescue, fire, emergency planning, and 911. After his retirement Rick enjoyed working in the yard and spending time with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren. Rick is preceded in death by his father, Benjamin Kellogg and brother, Benny Kellogg. He is survived by his loving wife, Diane Clark of Macclenny, FL: one daughter, Andrea Griffis (Lance) of Macclenny, FL: one son, Jeremy Clark (Christina) of Green Cove Springs, FL: his mother, Johnalee Kellogg of Glen St. Mary, FL: and three grandchildren, Jordan Griffis, Joel Griffis (Blayne) and Grace Clark. A memorial gathering to celebrate Rick’s life will be held from 5 to 6 P.M. on Thursday, June 23rd in the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home. All family and friends are welcomed to attend and visit with the family. Guerry Funeral Home, U.S.90 E., Macclenny, FL has been entrusted with the arrangements.
