Robert Eugene Grooms

Mr. Robert Eugene Grooms, age 77, of Glen St. Mary, FL passed away Wednesday, April 28th in the St. Vincent’s Riverside Memorial Hospital, Jacksonville, FL following an extended illness. Mr. Grooms was born in Jacksonville, FL and was a resident of Baker County, FL since 1975. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Macclenny, FL and was a master woodcrafter. Mr. Grooms served in the United States Navy for 6 years and worked as a mechanic for U.S. Gypsun until his retirement in 2004. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and repairing lawn mowers. Mr. Grooms is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Lucille Cunningham Grooms and one son, Casey Grooms. He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Grooms: one son, Daniel Grooms of Glen St. Mary, FL: daughter, Balinda Bass (Dean) of Glen St. Mary, FL: one brother, Dick Grooms (Linda) of DeLand, FL: four grandchildren, Robert and Joshua Lee, Krista Taylor and Dalton Roberts. Four great grandchildren also survive. A funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Grooms will be held at 3 P.M., Friday, April 30 in the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 3 to 5 P.M. (two hours before the service). Following the service Mr. Grooms’s ashes will be interred in the Jacksonville National Cemetery, Jacksonville, FL. Guerry Funeral Home, U.S. 90 E., Macclenny, FL has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
