Samuel Horn Obituary

Mr. Samuel Boyd “Sam” Horn, age 95, of Macclenny, Florida died suddenly at his home Thursday, June 10. He was born in Jacksonville, Florida and lived in Hawthorne, Florida before moving to Macclenny, Florida  27 years ago.  He worked as a machinist with the Seaboard Railroad in Jacksonville, Florida for over 40 years until his retirement in 1988.  He also served in the Florida National Guard Army Reserve for over 30 years  after becoming a U. S. Army veteran of W.W. II and served in the Rhineland and Central Europe battle campaigns. He was a recipient of a Bronze Star for his service.  He attended the Macclenny Primitive Baptist Church, was a member of the Baker County Veterans Council, the Jacksonville Shrine Club and loved football and watching western movies. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. John Horn and Mrs. Bertha Fox Horn, and his first wife, Sadie Mae Horn. He is survived by his wife, Julia Mae Horn of Macclenny, Florida: his son, Robert Horn of Hawthorne, Florida: three wonderful step-daughters, Sue (Nick) Giles, Karen (Merrill) Lauramore and Debbie (Dennis) Finley all of Macclenny, Florida: six grandchildren, Robert, Amy, Amanda, Brandon, Jennifer and Josh: numerous great-grandchildren also survive. A funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Horn will be held at 11 A.M. Tuesday, June 15, in the Macclenny Primitive Baptist Church with Elder David Crawford, Pastor, officiating and assisted by Elder Michael Green. Interment will be in Sellers Cemetery, North Halsema Road, Jacksonville, Florida. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 10 to 11 A.M. Tuesday (One hour before services).
