Shirley Ann Batten passed away Friday, January 27th, 2023, in Jacksonville, Florida after a long battle with respiratory diseases. She was 79 years old. Born in Waycross Georgia to Verna and Wade Stringfield. Shirley attended high school in Jacksonville and took accounting classes at Florida Community College - Jacksonville. She worked for a variety of companies but spent the bulk of her career as an accounts payable clerk for Mac Papers (now known as International Paper). She enjoyed trips to the mountains of Tennessee and antique shopping. Shirley was preceded in death by her first husband, Jerry (Bacmeister); second husband, Jimmy; and sisters Saundra Berry and Sharon Bavar. She is survived by her son, Jerry (Jennifer) Bacmeister Jr.; step-children Michael Batten and Penny (Dennis) Batten Powers; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and sisters Sheila Owens and Sheryl Stringfield.
Funeral services to honor the life of Mrs. Batten will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 11th, in the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home Macclenny, Florida. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 1 to 2 p.m. (one hour before services). Final disposition will be by cremation. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Lung Association are appreciated.
