Shirley D. Markham

Mrs. Shirley D. Markham, age 83, of Lake City, Florida died Monday, Jan. 4, in the Suwannee Valley Care Center, Lake City, Florida following a long illness. She was born in Eolia, Kentucky and had lived in Lake City, Florida for the past 60 years. She worked in the Columbia County School Department at the school cafeteria at Melrose Elementary for over 28 years until her retirement. She loved her family and enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Elvis Markham, her parents, Joseph and Sarah Caudill Dingus and nine siblings. She is survived by her daughter, Audrea (Jimmy) Salazar of Lake City, Florida: her step-son, Robert Markham of Lake City, Florida: Three grandchildren, Angel (Dallas) Cook, William (Natalie) Salazar and Robert Salazar: Four great-grandchildren, Tyler Cook, Haley Cook, Lincoln Salazar and Knox Salazar. A funeral service to honor the life of Mrs. Markham will be held at 11 A.M. Friday, Jan. 8, in the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home with Rev. Ralph Caudill of Kentucky officiating. Interment will be in Hopeful Baptist Church Cemetery, Columbia County, Florida. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 10 to 11 A.M.
