Mrs. Sylvia Jean Perdue, age 73, of Macclenny, Florida passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 17, in the Ascension St. Vincent’s Riverside Hospital, Jacksonville, Florida following an extended illness. Mrs. Perdue was born in Zephyrhills, Florida and resided in Macclenny, Florida for almost all of her life. She worked at Northeast Florida State hospital for many years, then retired from Ed Fraser Memorial hospital after 30 years as a manager. She was an avid member of the Women of the Moose-Macclenny Chapter 2026 for over 20 years, heading up numerous committees, helping children in need and leading many local charity events. She loved her family dearly, and especially her little dog Gracie. She loved the Lord and definitely is with Jesus today. She also enjoyed listening to Brother David and Timmy Thomas preach every Sunday morning from the comfort of her home. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Brantley L. and Mary Jones Humphreys: sisters, Margaret Kirkland, Vera Mae Crews and Nadine Dopson, and her beloved sons: Joey Crews, Stephen Crews, and Carl Perdue. She is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Robert Eugene Perdue: four children, Reece (Marie) Crews, Kathy (Tommy) Corns, Tammy Perdue Zoller, and Terry Perdue all of Macclenny, Florida: two sisters, Robin (Donny) Mann of Sanderson, Florida and Virginia (Bobby) Thrift of Macclenny, Florida: 31 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great- grandchildren also survive.
A celebration of life service to honor the life of Sylvia will be held at 11 A.M. Saturday, Oct. 21, in the Chapel at Guerry Funeral Home Macclenny, Florida with Pastor David Thomas officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Macclenny, Florida. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 10 to 11 A.M. (One hour before services) at the funeral home. GUERRY FUNERAL HOME, U.S. 90 East, Macclenny, Florida is in charge of arrangements.
