Tillman George

Mr. Eugene Tillman George, age 86, of Lake City, Florida passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 7, at his home following an extended illness. Mr. George was born in Lake Wales, Florida and had resided in Lake City for over 70 years. He worked for the Florida Department of Transportation in Lake City as a project engineer for 46 years until his retirement. He was a graduate of Columbia High School Class of 1957 and served for 24 years in the Florida National Guard and Army Reserve. He was of the Church of God faith and loved working on classic cars and trucks and attending car shows. He was preceded in death by his daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Andrew Boone, his son Joseph Quinton and his parents, Nebie and Dezzzie Huggins George. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Sue George of Lake City, Florida; his sister, Carolyn Stanford of St. Augustine, Florida; two half-sisters, Virginia and Ruth; and a half-brother, Harry Connely. A funeral service to honor the life of Mr. George will be held at 11 A.M. Saturday, Feb. 11, in the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Rodriguez, Pastor of Southside Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Lake City, Florida. Visitation and gathering with family will be from 5 to 7 P.M. Friday, Feb. 10, at GUERRY FUNERAL HOME 2659 S.W. Main Blvd., Lake City, Florida.
