Mr. Tommy Paul Bennett, age 79, of Glen St. Mary, Florida died Monday, May 16, in Memorial Hospital, Jacksonville, Florida following an extended illness. Mr. Bennett was born in Taylor, Florida and resided in Glen St. Mary, Florida most of his life. He was a former tax collector for Baker County and also was a former manager for Buster Auto Parts and Ferry’s Auto Parts in Macclenny, Fla. He also managed drug stores in Jacksonville, Fla. for many years. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, dirt car racing and a Florida Gator fan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanell Bennett, his parents, Floyd and Era Belle Rhoden Bennett and four siblings, Vernon Bennett, Barbara Bennett, Jerrell Bennett and Randall Bennett. He is survived by two sons, Paul (Tina) Bennett of Satsuma, Florida and David Bennett of Glen St. Mary, Florida; six siblings, Dottie (Dan) Odehnal of Orange Park, Florida, Sharon Crews, Greg (Patricia) Bennett and Joey Bennett all of Glen St. Mary, Florida, Connie Knabb of Macclenny, Florida and Jeffrey (Shelley) Bennett of White Springs, Florida; four grandchildren, Brad (Megan) Patterson, Casey Bennett, Taylor (Sean) Council and David Bennett; 9 great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive. A funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Bennett will be held at 4 P.M. Thursday, May 19, in the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home, Macclenny, Florida with Elder David Crawford, Pastor of the Macclenny Primitive Baptist Church, officiating. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 3 to 4 P.M. (one hour before services). Final disposition will be by cremation.
