Mrs. Gertrude (Trudy) Miller, long time resident of Lake City, FL, passed away on October 4, 2021, after a short illness. She was born to Grover Cleveland Harrell and Gladys Pearl Harrell on December 4, 1926, in Timmonsville, SC.
She was a farm girl in a large family of 10 children. After high school she attended and graduated from Draughon’s Business College. She married John Gilbert Miller of Jasper, FL, on October 1, 1945, and the two moved to Jacksonville, FL. While living there, she gave birth to one child, a son, named Jeffrey Alan Miller.
She was a bookkeeper for 49 years but the highlight period was her job as a bookkeeper/accountant for 17 years at a large working farm south of Miami. Upon retirement in 1989, Trudy and John moved to Lake City, FL, which she most fondly considered to be her home.
John and Trudy joined the First Baptist Church of Lake City and she became a member of the Charity Sunday School class. Loving the Lord, attending church, doing volunteer work, and dressing nicely were the hallmarks of Trudy’s life. After John’s death in 1997, she continued to faithfully attend church and Sunday School, and help others. She loved to work in her garden, work puzzles, and socialize. She was thrilled when Jeff married Sherry Jones of Huntsville, AL, in 2001.
The last seven years of her life were lived in Huntsville, AL, to be near Jeff and Sherry. She continued to keep her mind sharp by working puzzles and making friends in her senior apartment building. She loved the Lord and will be with Him always.
She was predeceased in death by her brothers and sisters: Kenneth Coye; Margaret Olivia; Thomas Edison; Chalmers Eston; Berley Hubert; Winnie Kate; Malcolm Rush; Francis Pearl; and John Mack. She is survived by her son, Jeff, and many nieces and nephews.
