Virgil Duane "Pete" Davis

Mr. Virgil Duane “Pete” Davis, age 64, of Glen St. Mary, FL passed away Sunday, November 15th in the St. Vincent’s Riverside Hospital, Jacksonville, FL following a brief illness. Mr. Pete was born in Lake City, FL to the late Virgil and Cora Lee Johns Davis. He was a lifetime resident of Baker County, FL and was a member of the Mt. Zion New Congregational Methodist Church, Macclenny, FL. Mr. Pete retired from JEA after 30 years of service and was employed with the Baker County Road Department for 14 years. He was an avid Florida Gator fan and enjoyed hunting and baseball. Most of all, Mr. Pete loved his family and cherished the time he got to spend with his grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Michelle and brother, Mike Davis. Mr. Pete is survived by his loving wife, Wanda Davis: sons, Christopher Davis (Jessica) of Jacksonville, FL, Duane Davis (Chastity) of Macclenny, FL, Dustin Davis of Glen St. Mary, FL, Cody Davis (Kandace) of Macclenny, FL, Brad Raulerson (Amber) and Robert Williams, both of Glen St. Mary, FL: daughter, Jennifer Varnum (Corey) of Glen St. Mary, FL: brother, Frank Davis of Sanderson, FL: sisters, Mirian Castleberry (Randy), Becky Davis both of Macclenny, FL and Anita Davis of Sanderson, FL. Twenty- one grandchildren, two great grandchildren and one on the way, also survive. A funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Pete will be held at 2 P.M., Wednesday, November 18th in the Mt. Zion New Congregational Methodist Church with Brother Shane Conner and Brother Bobby Griffin officiating. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 1 to 2 P.M. (one hour before services).
