Alfreda Allinder Williams

June 18, 1929 ~ July 9, 2017 (age 88) 88 Years Old

Alfreda Allinder Williams, age 88, was born June 18, 1929 in Sumner, FL and went home to be with the LORD on Sunday, July 9, 2017 at Shands Hospital, Gainesville, FL.   She had resided on the family farm in Columbia County for more than 60 years.  She was a faithful member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church where she served in various capacities for many years.

Alfreda was preceded in death by her parents, Davis Enoch Allinder and Annis Morene Day Allinder, her brother, Davis Edmund Allinder, and her beloved husband of 62 years, Ernest Wilbur Williams.  She leaves behind two sons, Donny Williams (Sandi) and Hal Williams (Penny), five grandchildren, Tonya Baker, Travis Williams, Tara Hollingsworth, Masi Williams, and Cadi Williams, eight great-grandchildren, Andrew Baker, Alex Baker, Grace Baker, Aspen Hollingsworth, Arden Hollingsworth, and Ty Williams, Zoe Williams and Zac Williams, a brother, Joe Allinder (Barbara), a dear sister-in-law, Mary Alice McGhin, and many precious nieces and nephews.

The greatest joys in her life were her two boys, of whom she was very proud.  She loved her family, including her church family, and loved preparing her favorite recipes for them, including meat loaf, fresh vegetables and canning treasures from her garden.  She avidly loved football, especially the Florida Gators, hummingbirds, working in her flowers, Facebook, her Lake City Reporter, especially the crossword puzzles, politics and was very techno-savvy for someone her age.  She was a loyal friend who kept in touch with her friends through the many years and over many miles.  She was highly respected by her family and friends, was generous but frugal, and very kind and thoughtful. One of her favorite places was the Smoky Mountains. She loved to go – anywhere at any time.  If you didn’t want her to go, then don’t ask.   If you wanted to make a friend, give her something sweet to eat.  She love anything sweet, ice cream, cake, pie, candy….anything. Alfreda was active and independent and determined to live life enthusiastically until the moment she died and she succeeded.  She will be deeply missed by all who were privileged to know her and her legacy of love will continue to live through her family and friends.
