Mrs. Delilah “Dee Dee” Loretta Swindell, age 56 of Glen St. Mary, FL passed away Wednesday, October 4 following an extended illness. Mrs. Swindell was a lifelong resident of Baker County, FL and was a member of the Road to Calvary Church. She was employed as a bus driver for the Baker County School System and retired after 18 years of service to her community. She loved to work in her yards, enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family and grandchildren. Mrs. Swindell is preceded in death by her parents, James Pete Thomas and Linda Magyari Thomas, and one son, James Henry Swindell. She is survived by her loving husband of forty years, Daryl W. Swindell, Sr.: one son, Daryl Swindell, Jr. of Glen St. Mary, FL: one daughter, Ashley Swindell of Glen St. Mary, FL: three brothers, Andrew Thomas (Tonya) of Starke, FL, Vincent Thomas of Starke, FL and Jimmy Thomas of Worthington Springs, FL: one sister, Sabra Monaghan (Mike) of Starke, FL. Five grandchildren, Hunter Swindell, Shay Bennett, Tana Barton, Jailei Watson and Conner Swindell, also survive. Funeral services to honor the life of Mrs. Swindell will be held at 10:30 A.M., Monday, October 9 in the Sanderson Congregational Methodist Church with Rev. Oscar Thomas of Lithonia, Ga officiating and assisted by Rev. Oral Lyons and Rev. Tommy Anderson. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 6 to 8 P.M. Friday, October 6 in the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home, Macclenny, FL. Interment will follow services in Turner Cemetery. Guerry Funeral Home, U.S. 90 E., Macclenny, FL is in charge of arrangements.
