Mr. Michael “Mike” Eugene Combs, age 45, of Glen St. Mary, Florida died Saturday, Sept. 2, in the Shands University of Florida Morris Center, Jacksonville, Florida from injuries received in an automobile accident on Aug. 13, 2017. Mr. Combs was born in Macclenny, Florida and resided in Jacksonville Florida before moving to Glen St. Mary, Florida four years ago. He worked as a journeyman with the J.E.A. and the City of Jacksonville, Florida for over 25 years until a disability forced his retirement in 2014. He was a member of the Dinkins New Congregational Methodist Church, Sanderson, Florida and was a graduate of Baker County High School. He loved working on cars and the Florida Gators . He was preceded in death by his father, Maurice Eugene Combs. He is survived by his wife, Rita Combs of Glen St. Mary, Florida: One daughter, Alexis Combs of Jacksonville, Florida: One son, Michael Daniel Combs of Chipley, Florida: His mother, Geraldine Combs of Glen St. Mary, Florida: Two step-daughters, Chelsey Bryant of Jacksonville, Florida and Brianna Bryant of Macclenny, Florida: Four siblings, Marcus Combs, Brenda Buonviri, Laura (John) Adams and Darrell (Dawn) Combs all of Jacksonville, Florida: One granddaughter, Olivia Osborn. A funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Combs will be held at 11 A.M. Thursday, Sept. 7, at the Dinkins New Congregational Church with Rev. Tim Alford, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Cedar Creek Cemetery, Sanderson, Florida. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 6 to 8 P.M.
