Mrs. Doris Lavon Martin, age 81, of Fort White, Florida died Sunday, Oct. 15, at her home following a long illness. She was born in Shamrock, Florida and resided in Suwannee County before moving to Fort White, Florida 60 years ago. She drove a school bus for over 32 years for the Columbia County School System and was a member of the Burlington Santa Fe Church of Christ. She enjoyed fishing, gardening and raising her children. She was preceded in death by her son, Paul Thurman Martin and her parents, George and Bertha Mae Sikes Williams. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, C.T. Martin of Fort White, Florida: Three daughters, Carolyn Johnson and Darlene (Darryl) Crawford both of Providence, Florida and Rosemary (Michael) Jones of Fort White, Florida: Two sons, Tommy Martin of Lake City, Florida and Jerry (Tassie) Martin of Fort White, Florida: Two brothers, Leslie Williams of Branford, Florida and Herman Williams of Arizona: Nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive.
A graveside funeral service to honor the life of Mrs. Martin will be held at 10 A.M. Wednesday, Oct. 18, in the Fort White Cemetery, Fort White, Florida. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 5 to 8 P.M. Tuesday, Oct. 17, at GUERRY FUNERAL HOME, 2659 S.W. Main Blvd., Lake City, Florida. www.guerryfuneralhome.net
